This standard establishes a complete classification and testing scheme for normal application referring to the main characteristics that define a cylindrical compression helical spring constructed with steel wire or bar with circular section, while for springs constructed with wire or bar with ectangular section or square of steel agreements made from time to time between the supplier and the customer apply. It can be extended, even partially, if specified when ordering, to springs made of any other material. For the degrees of precision and tolerances of wire or bar springs with rectangular or square sections, unless otherwise agreed between the customer and the supplier, see 2.1.2.2.
