It establishes the dimensional and morphological characteristics of the vials obtained from glass tubes (see UNI 6254) and intended to mainly contain freeze-dried products. For flat-bottomed glass vials (type a, b, c, d, e, f), see UNI 6881. The glass must meet the requirements of the official Italian pharmacopoeia. when it is intended to contain products other than pharmaceutical ones, the glass must comply with the regulations in force in relation to the product that will be packaged (Ministerial Decree 21 March 1973 and its subsequent additions or modifications).
