Scope
This standard concerns the verification of the construction elements of the pendulums used for the resilience test on notched steel test pieces, carried out according to UNI 4431 and UNI 4713-69. That is, it applies to the verification of machines based on the principle of measuring the residual potential energy after the test piece has received the impact. The above verification is essentially static in nature. If the described method is not appropriate for a particular machine, it must be modified. 2 The potential energy of the pendulum, deducted the residual rising energy, should all be spent to break the test tube; a part of it, however, is lost in various losses. Among these losses, this standard only takes into account air resistance and friction, as measurement methods and suitable equipment for the study of other losses have not yet been developed; in other words, all the energy lost by the pendulum is attributed to the breaking of the test tube, other than that lost due to air resistance and friction.
