This method is used for the determination of the asphaltenes present in the bitumens contained in asphaltic rock mastics and in synthetic asphalt mastics by means of precipitation with petroleum ether 30 -=- 50 °C and subsequent separation, using boiling ethyl alcohol, of the paraffins solids that may have separated together with the asphaltenes.
