After disintegration of the mineral with sodium peroxide and insolubilization of the silica, the iron is separated with hydrogen sulphide in an alkaline solution containing tartaric acid, then the titanium is precipitated with cupferron in an acid solution, it is filtered, calcined and finally the oxide is weighed of titanium. If the mineral contains zirconium or vanadium it is necessary to purify the titanium oxide. Solutions and reagents. Method. Try it blank. Calculation.
