The mineral is disintegrated with sodium peroxide, the melted mass is leached with water, the solution is acidified, the chromium is quantitatively oxidized to chromate with ammonium persulphate in the presence of silver nitrate and finally the chromium is determined by adding excess ferrous sulphate and titrating the excess of this salt with potassium permanganate.
