This unification applies to ferrous metal products with a diameter greater than or equal to 4 mm or a thickness greater than or equal to 3 mm and to non-ferrous metal products with a diameter or thickness greater than or equal to 0.5 mm; for the tensile test of some particular products (such as thin sheets, wires and small diameter pipes) special standards apply.
