Scope
It establishes the colorimetric characteristics of a series of inks intended for three-colour and four-colour offset printing, according to a printing sequence to be specified. These colorimetric characteristics correspond to those of UNI 6812-71 relating to typography inks. From a practical point of view, the availability of a series of colorimetrically defined inks offers the following advantages: it allows photoreproducers to prepare correct selection photographic transparencies with respect to a series of inks with constant colorimetric characteristics so that the other selection transparencies, even if of different origins, can be combined in the same form of printing; allows photoreproducers and printers to always find series of inks with constant colorimetric characteristics regardless of their origin. It is not applicable to fluorescent inks. Evaluation by means of instrumental measurements, of the primary colors and secondary colors of the first order of prints obtained in the specified conditions. delimitation of the range of values, reported in the table, within which the colorimetric measurements must be included so that the inks in question can be considered as meeting the requirements of this standard.
