Scope
It agrees with the CEI 04-59 standard of the European Committee of Associations of Paint and Printing Ink Manufacturers. By solvent fastness of a print, we mean the resistance to solvents: industrial denatured ethyl alcohol and a mixture of solvents (acetone, ethyl glycol, ethyl acetate, denatured alcohol, toluene). Method. The method concerns exclusively the fastness of the prints to the solvents used in the test. It is impossible to deduce a judgment on the fastness of the prints to painting, since the paints may contain solvents different from those used in the test. Other factors may intervene, such as the action of plasticizers on the painted print, surface defects, the physical properties of the paint, etc. The fastness of the prints to varnishing must therefore always be determined with a particularly suitable practical test. By fastness of an ink to solvents we mean the fastness of a sample print, examined according to UNI 5775, and prepared according to UNI 5772.
