This section of Part 2 of IEC Publication 598 specifies requirements for Class I and Class II luminaires with built-in transformers for filament lamps and with supply voltages and output voltages not exceeding 1 000 V, and for Class 0 luminaires with built-in transformers for filament lamps and with supply voltages and output voltages not exceeding 250 V. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of Part 1 to which reference is made.
This section does not apply to Class III luminaires.
It is not necessary to use "Safety extra low voltage" (SELV) transformers to comply with the requirements of this section. However, such transformers may satisfy the functional requirements of this section.
