This edition differs from edition 1 by deletion of the width-measurement (10 mm) rain gutter in the helmet shell.
This standard is applicable to protective helmets used in industry, forestry, etc, to protect the head from injury, mainly from falling objects. This standard corresponds in the main with a Draft International Standard for industrial helmets and will be reconsidered when the ISO work has proceeded further. It does not include helmet accessories.
The standard agrees in substance with the corresponding standards in the other Scandi-navian countries, to wit: DS 973.1, NS 2925, and SFS 2465. In the Finish standard, how-ever, the measurement 10 mm refering to the width of the rain gutter is maintained. The section on fire helmets, however, is included only in this Swedish standard.
Test methods for protective helmets for industry etc. are described in SIS 88 24 33. Head-form for testing is described in SIS 8F 24 31.
