Scope
This standard specifies the classification of the degree of protection according to the enclosure of electrical equipment with a rated voltage of 72.5 kV or less. The purpose of this standard is as follows. a) Definitions of the classification of protection degree according to the enclosure of electrical equipment are given below. l) Protection of personnel against access to dangerous areas within the enclosure. 2) Protection of electrical equipment inside the enclosure against intrusion of solid objects from the outside. 3) Protection of electrical equipment inside the enclosure against the harmful effects of water ingress. Specify the method for specifying the degree of protection in b). c) specifying the requirements for specifying the degree of protection; d) Specify test methods to verify that the enclosure complies with the requirements specified in this standard. The content and application interpretation of the actual protective structure classification in each electrical equipment standard is the responsibility of the individual product standard, but tests are conducted to verify the protective structure classification for the electrical equipment. The content of the method and judgment conditions must be consistent with those specified in this standard. Supplementary provisions may be provided in individual product standards as necessary. A summary of the matters to be specified in individual product standards is provided in Annex B (for reference) as a guideline. Furthermore, for specific electrical equipment, different standards may be adopted in individual product standards as long as they are at the same or higher level in terms of safety. The enclosure referred to in this standard is one that otherwise complies with the normal usage conditions specified in the individual product standards, and the material and finish of the enclosure meet the protection rating indicated under normal usage conditions. This assumes that it can be maintained. This standard applies to cases where general test conditions are met for the internal electrical equipment to be protected, and it can also be applied to enclosures with no internal electrical equipment as long as they have a specific protection structure. . Protection of the enclosure under the following environmental conditions, protection of electrical equipment inside the enclosure, and protection against contact with dangerous moving parts (fans, etc.) outside the enclosure are stipulated in each individual product standard. It is a matter. - Mechanical impact - Corrosion - Corrosive solvents (e.g. cutting fluids) - Mold - Insects - Solar radiation - Water condensation - Water condensation. ) - Barriers and bulkheads installed outside the enclosure for the safety of persons in explosive atmospheres are not considered part of the enclosure and are not specified in this standard. Note: The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
