This Standard specifies a method for the photometric determination of manganese in aluminum and aluminum alloys. The method is applicable to products with a manganese content between 0.005 and 1.5%. The method is not fully applicable to the following particular cases: a) alloys with a silicon content greater than 10% and manganese content less than 0.1% (see Appendix); b) aluminum alloys containing tin, antimony, bis uth, zirconium. etc. (These special cases are not covered in this Standard).
