This European standard specifies the dimensions, dimensional tolerances, mechanical, physical and chemical characteris ics, surface appearance and marking of ceramic tiles and slabs. It is only applicable to stretched ceramic tiles and slabs with water absorption E > 10% according to the AMI group of standard EN 87 intended for floor and wall coverings inside and outside buildings . They are generally not intended for use where freezing conditions may occur (see Chapter 7). This standard only applies to premium ceramic tiles and slabs.
