Scope
This standard contemplates the gravimetric method for the quantitative determination of sulfur in low-alloy carbon steels with sulfur contents ranging from---- 0.005 to 0.6% and with a chemical composition that is within the limits following: Element Concentration Range (%) Aluminum (Al) 0.001 1.50 Arsenic (As) 0.0005 - 0.10 Boron (B) 0.0005 - 0.002 Carbon (C) 0.001 - 1.80 Chromium (Cr) 0.005 - 3.99 Cobalt (Co) 0.01 - 0.30 Niobium (Nb) 0.002 - 0.05 Copper (Cu) 0.005 - 1.50 Lead (Pb) 0.001 - 0.50 Manganese (Mn) 0.01 - 2.50 Molybdenum (Mo) 0.002 - 1.50 Nickel (Ni) 0.005 - 5.00 Nitrogen (N) 0.0005 - 0.04 Phosphorus (P) 0.001 - 0.25 Silicon (Si) 0.001 - 5, 00 Tin (Sn) 0.002 - 0.00 Titanium (Ti) 0.002 - 0.60 Tungsten (W) 0.005 - 0.10 Vanadium (V) 0.005 - 0.50 Zirconium (Zr) 0.005 - 0.15
