This standard covers fixed capacitors, designed essentially to be used in direct current, whose nominal voltage is not greater than 6 300 V and that use either polyethylene terephthalate or a material with similar properties as a dielectric. The electrodes consist of thin metal sheets or thin metal layers deposited on the dielectric. In the latter case, no self-healing discharge should occur during the life test. Capacitors intended for the suppression of parasitic frequencies are not included in this standard; They are covered by the COVE-NIN 750 standard: "Capacitors for suppression of parasitic frequencies".
