This standard describes a gas chromatographic method for the determination of benzene in motor gasoline. The lower limit of the determination is 0.0001% (m/m) with flame ionization detection or approximately 0.01% (m/m) with katharometer detection. Note Under the conditions of this test, components such as is propyl alcohol, sec. butyl alcohol and methyl tertiary butyl ether (see also note to 6.3).
