Scope

The standard applies to water with a nitrate content of at least 0.05 mg/l. The chloride content must be known. Note Dis urbances due to the presence of chloride, nitrite, heavy metals, organic substances and calcium and/or magnesium can be eliminated by pre-treatment. See 7.1 for this
