The standard applies to all types of water. The detection limit depends on the device used; In general, cadmium levels can be determined from 0.01 mg/l. For cadmium levels lower than 0.05 mg/l, the use of an extraction method (see 10) or the graphite furnace technique (see NEN 6458) is recommended. Note Calcium levels greater than 100 mg/l suppress cadmium absorption. At a calcium content of 2000 mg/l the signal is reduced by 10%.
