Scope
This standard describes a method for the gravimetric determination of a nickel content of at least 0.1% (w/w) and is applicable to the chemical examination of iron, non-alloyed, alloyed and high-alloyed steel. During the precipitation of 2 to 40 mg of nickel, up to 150 mg of cobalt and up to 150 mg of copper can be present without interference. By a suitable choice of the weighing (7.1) it is almost always possible to meet these conditions. Only with low nickel contents this is not always possible; in that case the nickel content must be determined photometrically.
