The standard applies to rainwater with an H30+ content of 10 to 500 ixmol/l. Weakly acidic and weakly basic components interfere with the determination. The presence of these interfering components is evident from the deviation between the H30+ concentrations determined from two successive standard additions. If interfering components are present, the more laborious method referred to in 11 should be applied. Comments 1. In the Netherlands, no dis urbing amounts of weakly acidic or weakly basic components are found in the majority of samples. 2. This standard is not applicable to rainwater with pH > 5. In that case, HC03" interferes with the determination.
