Scope
This standard describes a method for the photometric determination of a molybdenum content of up to 10% (m/m) and is applicable to the chemical examination of iron, non-alloyed, alloyed and high-alloyed steel. The detection limit is 0.001% (w/w) molybdenum. In principle, vanadium and tungsten interfere with the determination. However, the interference is only measurable at extreme ratios of vanadium : molybdenum (see 8.1) and tungsten : molybdenum (see 8.2); with normally used steel types the interference is negligible.
