The standard applies to the examination of vegetable and animal oils and fats that contain at least 3% (w/w) non-conjugated trans-unsaturated compounds. The method is less suitable if the sample contains:
——compounds with groups that exhibit absorption or influence absorption in the vicinity of 10.3 Mm;
——compounds with conjugated double bonds.
