This standard describes a method for the photometric determination of a nickel content up to 4% (m/m) and is applicable to the chemical examination of iron, non-alloyed, alloyed and high-alloyed steel. The detection limit is approximately 0.004% (m/m) nickel. If more than 2% (w/w) cobalt is present, the detection limit will be higher, because the prescription will need to be adjusted slightly. The determination is not dis urbed by the elements normally found in iron and steel.
