Scope
The standard applies to vertically placed facade infills in the version in which they are ultimately used in residential construction. The requirements are intended for testing: a. prototypes for assignments; b. prototypes of standardized products; c. samples for assignments; d. samples to control production; e. special constructions (detective work). Since the tests are carried out under laboratory conditions, compliance with the test pressure associated with a specified class must be seen as an indication of good practical behavior of the facade filling. These facade infills are usually composed of a framework and a filling of different materials and are intended to close a facade opening or to form a facade. Depending on shape, size and/or material type, we also speak of window frames, facade facades, window frames and the like. The standard applies, regardless of the material type, to movable or non-movable parts in the facade. The standard does not apply to the seams between facade infills and the surrounding building structure. The standard also applies to curtain walls and facades in non-residential construction. Comments 1. The standard does not automatically apply to facade infills placed at a slope. 2. For the test methods for air permeability, stiffness and strength, see NEN 3660. For the test methods for water tightness, see NEN-EN 86, spraying method 2.
