1.1 This standard applies to two- or multi-pole light rail systems with a provis on for earthing (class I), with a rated voltage of not more than 440 V between the poles (live conductors), a rated frequency of not more than 60 Hz and a rated current of a maximum of 16 A per conductor, for the connection of lighting fixtures to the electrical supply. The standard applies to light rail systems for normal indoor use for surface-mounting, recessing or suspension on walls and ceilings. These rail systems are not intended for places where special conditions exis , such as in ships, vehicles and the like and in dangerous areas, e.g. where explosions can occur. The user is responsible for proper mechanical and thermal adjustment of the rail system and the lighting fixtures attached to it. Note Provis ons for rail systems other than Class I are under consideration.
