This standard provides the method for the recovery of bitumen from asphalt, for the purpose of determining the (basic) properties (penetration and softening point R & K) of the bitumen as it is present in the asphalt. Note The method in this standard is specifically intended to be used for determining the properties of the bitumen for the reuse of asphalt. The standard is not intended to be applied for the recovery of modified bitumen.
