This International Standard specifies a flame atomic absorption method for the determination of calcium and magnesium in sodium hydroxide for industrial use. The method is applicable to products whose Ca and Mg contents are respectively greater than:
——2.5 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg, if an acetylene-air flame is used;
——0.6 mg/kg and 1.0 mg/kg, if an acetylene-dinitrogen monoxide flame is used.
