This International Standard specifies a mercurimetric method for the determination of chlorides in sodium sulfate for industrial use. The method is applicable to products whose chloride content, expressed as Cl, is greater than 0.005% (m/m). NOTE — If the operator is able to easily dis inguis the change in the indicator using a standard solution of 0.02 N mercury(ll) nitrate, the method can, after agreement between the interested parties, be extended to products whose the chloride content is greater than 0.001% (m/m).
