The purpose of this standard is to provide recommendations on the precautions to be taken when storing and transporting, after collection, water samples taken for the purpose of carrying out analyses. It also gives indications regarding the volume of sample required. It is primarily designed for wastewater, but can be fully applied to surface water sampling in general. The possibility of its application to drinking water and water for industrial use must be verified case by case.
