This method is applicable to the analysis of alkylbenzene sulfonates, alkylsulfonates, sulfates and hydroxysulfates, alkylphenol sulfates, fatty alcohol ethoxysulfates and dialkylsulfosuccinates, and the determination of the content of active materials containing a hydrophilic group per molecule. NOTE — Low molar mass sulfonates, present in hydrotrope form (toluene, xylene) do not interfere if their content relative to the active ingredients is less than or equal to 15% (m/m). On a larger scale, their influence must be studied for each particular case. Soap, urea and salts of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid do not interfere. Typical mineral components of detergents such as sodium chloride, sulfate, borate, tripolyphosphate, perborate, silicate etc. do not interfere; but bleaching agents, other than perborate, must be destroyed before analysis
