Scope
This standard provides definitions relating to 1) the diameter and wall thickness of thermoplastic pipe elements, 2) the internal pressure caused by a fluid in these pipe elements, 3) the stress induced in the wall of the driving element by the internal pressure. It sets the nominal outside diameters, nominal stresses, nominal pressures and nominal wall thicknesses applicable to all thermoplastic pipe elements, as well as the tolerances which apply to the average outside diameter, ovality and the effective wall thickness of these pipe elements. This standard applies to all thermoplastic pipe elements with a circular section intended for the transport of fluids, whatever their method of manufacture, composition and use. This standard constitutes the basis for all standards dealing with pipe elements manufactured from a given thermoplastic material and intended for a defined use.
