Scope
This standard describes two methods for the rapid determination of sulfur in petroleum products ranging from gases to solid compounds. Method A is suitable for petroleum products with a sulfur content greater than or equal to 0.1% (m/m), method B for products with a sulfur content greater than or equal to 0.02% (m/m ). The methods are applicable for products that contain less than the following quantities of the elements lis ed below: V Ni Na N Cl 400 mg/kg 400 mg/kg 4,000 mg/kg 6,000 mg/kg 10,000 mg/kg = 1% (m/m) Other metals such as barium, calcium, lead, zinc and mercury may interfere. Fluorine does not interfere as long as its content is not more than 30% of the sulfur content. Phosphorus interferes.
