This International Standard specifies a photometric method for the determination of chlorides in potassium hydroxide for industrial use. The method is applicable to products whose chloride content, expressed as chlorine (Cl), is greater than 2 mg/kg and less than 50 mg/kg. NOTE — For concentrations greater than 50 mg/kg, use the method specified in is 992, Potassium hydroxide for industrial use - Determination of chlorides - Mercurimetric method, or reduce the sample of the test solution according to the note in 7.4.3.
