The purpose of this standard is to give, in table form, the quantities and units of atomic and nuclear physics. When two symbols are given for the same quantity, without special dis inction, they can be used indifferently. SI units are given in bold; other units are given in common characters. The abbreviations "nI, de, en" respectively mean "Dutch, German, Englis " (is 639:1988). Definitions of units are given in standard NBN X 02-001 *. The names and symbols of chemical elements are given in appendix A. The symbols of chemical elements and nuclides are given in appendix B. The names and symbols of nuclides of radioactive families are given in appendix C.
