1.1 This standard prescribes the methods of test which are common to several Indian Standard specifications for individual petroleum products and lubricants.
1.2 This standard does not deal with materials, but specifies the methods for determining whether or not they comply with the requirements of indi-vidual standards.
1.3 Should there be any inconsistency between the requirements of this standard and those of the standard for an individual material, the latter shall prevail.
