1.1 This standard covers ballasts of inductive type for use up to 250 V alternating current supply at 50 Hz, associated with high pressure mercury vapour lamps covered by various parts of IS : 9900-1981〓.
1.2 Relevant clauses of this standard (for example, thermal endurance tests for windings ) apply also to ballasts which form an integral part of a luminaire and which cannot be tested separately.
