Scope

1.1 This standard lays down broad guidelines and principles for the planning and design of surface drains for uniform application throughout the country. 1.2 This standard is applicable only for surface drains in agricultural/ rural areas. This does not apply to the planning and design of drains in urban areas, for which the practices are entirely different.
