This standard (Part I ) specifies the general requirements and tests for all types of ac electricity meters of induction type of accuracy Class 0·5, 1, 2 and worse, for the measurement of alternating current electrical energy (active, reactive or apparent) of a frequency in the range 40 to 60 Hz.
1.2 It does not apply to:
a) meters for testing purposes such as, rotating sub-standard;
b) special types of meters such as, multi-rate meters; and
c) measuring devices such as those used for telemetering.
