Scope

This standard covers criteria for design of silt vanes for sediment control in offtaking canals. Notb 1 — The silt vanes are silt exclusion devices at the head of an offtake. However, once excessive silt has entered an offtake, sediment ejector has to be used which is covered under IS : 6004-1971*. Note 2 — Silt vanes are also called as King's vanes.
