Scope

1.1 This method is intended for the determination of water and sediment in crude oil and fuel oil by means of the centrifuge. It does not measure the water content accurately; the actual volume as read from the centrifuge tube includes both the sediment and precipitated water and this amount is nearly always lower than the true water content. 1.1.1 This method is not suitable for an accurate determination of water content, for which P : 40 shall be used.
