IS 1448 Pt.23-1991 Test methods for petroleum and its products [P: 23] Determination of hydrocarbon species in liquid petroleum products using fluorescent indicator adsorption method
1.1 This method covers the determination of hydrocarbon types over the concentration ranges of 5 to 99 volume percent aromatics 0.3 to 55 volume percent olefins and 1 to 95 volume percent saturates in petroleum fractions that distil below 315 °C. This method may apply to concentraticns outside these ranges but the precision has not been determined.
1.2 This method is intended for use with full boiling range products. Cooperative data have established that the precision statement does not apply to narrow boiling point fractions near the 315 °C limit. Such samples are not eluted pro-perly, and results are erratic.
1.3 The applicability of this method to products derived from fossil fuels other than petroleum, such as coal, shale or tar sands, has not been determined, and precision statement may or may not apply to such products.
1.4 The precision statement for this method has been determined with unleaded fuels that do not contain oxygenates. It may or may not apply to automotive gasolines containing lead anti-knock mixtures and/or oxygenates.
