Scope

1.1 This standard specifies dimensions and tolerances of turned and threaded cylindrical electrodes and graphite nipples for arc furnaces. 1.2 Graphite electrodes generate electric arc between the electrode and the charge. This arc causes heat generation to melt the charge and in the process of melting the charge, the electrode itself gets consumed at a specific rate.
