Scope

1.1 This standard covers the method of tests, performance and other requirements for leadacid storage batteries used as a source of energy for lighting and other normal auxiliary purposes for electric locomotives and electrical multiple units. 1.2 It does not cover batteries for train lighting and airconditioning of railway coaches which are covered by IS : 6848-1979*.
