Scope

1.1 This standard (Part I) gives principles for the development of test procedures to evaluate the thermal endurance of electrical insulating materials and simple combinations of such materials. 1.2 It also provides guidance for establishing thermal endurance profiles and temperature indices of insulating materials on the basis of results of accelerated thermal endurance tests, which are conducted in accordance with specified procedures. 1.3 The test procedures covered by this guide apply only to insulating materials including processed compositions of raw materials and simple combinations thereof before they are fabricated into coils or other insulating structures identified with specific parts of electric equipment.
