1.1 This Indian Standard describes a method of chemical analysis for the determination of aluminium, barium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, silica, sodium, tin and zinc in new and used lubricating oils.
1.2 This method does not cover the determination of lead, copper and iron.
1.3 The method is such that the other metallic elements, sulphur, phos-phorus and chlorine in amounts commonly found in lubricating oils do not interfere in the determination.
