Scope
This standard identifies the basic elements that describe geographic data quality, specifies the components of quality information reporting and methods for organizing data quality information. This standard is applicable to data producers providing quality information, formally or implicitly describing and evaluating the degree to which their data sets conform to domain mapping specified in product specifications, and to data users/"determining whether the quality of specific geographical data can be Meet their specific application requirements. Relevant organizations that acquire and purchase data should refer to this standard to measure whether the product meets the requirements of the specification. It can also be used to define the application model and describe the quality requirements of this standard for digital geography. Data can be extended to identify, collect, and report quality information for geographic datasets. Its basic elements can also be extended to identify, collect, and report quality information for series of datasets, or smaller groups of data that are subsets of datasets.
