- This standard specifies the general requirements of the ultrasonic plate wave flaw detection method for metal sheets, flaw detection equipment, comparison samples, selection of plate wave modes, flaw detection methods and defect assessment. This standard is applicable to ultrasonic plate wave flaw detection of metal plates such as container steel, stainless steel, superalloy and other metal plates whose thickness is not more than 5 times the wavelength of the surface wave of the tested plate. Conduct flaw detection.
