This standard specifies requirements for tin coatings on metal articles for corrosion protection and to enhance solderability. This standard specifies requirements for nominally pure tin coatings on metal articles. The coating can be in the state of matt, bright after plating, or the state of melt flow treatment by melting method after electroplating. This standard does not apply to: a) threaded parts; b) tinned copper wire; c) tin coating on unformed sheet, strip and wire, or products made from them; d) on helical springs Tin coatings; e) Tin coatings obtained by chemical methods (immersion, autocatalytic or electroless plating); f) Tin coatings on steel surfaces with a tensile strength greater than 1000 MPa (or corresponding hardness), because such steels generate hydrogen during electroplating crisp.
