This standard specifies the method for determining the transverse rupture strength of sintered or post-sintered metal materials with rectangular specimens. This standard applies to sintered metal materials with uniform hardness across the entire cross-section and minimal plasticity (permanent deformation between two fulcrums is less than 0.5 ram). This standard is also applicable to the comparison test between the sintering strength of a batch of metal powder and the sintering strength of reference powder or reference strength. This method is not suitable for cemented carbide. NOTE: Permanent deformation can be accurately measured by the change in length of the bottom surface of the fractured specimen. It is also possible to draw a horizontal straight line on the side of the sample, and measure the deviation of the straight line with an optical instrument such as a microscope or an optical ratio meter.
